Mr. Halford’s latest album – WINTER SONGS, is a Christmas album. Yes, you read that right. It is shocking, but the album is a very good attempt. The songs are well produced with a perfect mix of Christmas, guitars and screaming vocals.
A lot of metal fans would like this record purely because this does not fall into the Painkiller collection. However, an experiment this is a beautiful album. The best way to listen to it is to just imagine it is a Xmas album with Halford. The original songs are pretty good, with “Get Into the Spirit” easily being the best, Halford’s take on these traditional Christmas songs are excellent.
There is no doubt this is the Metal God at work, Halford doesn’t try to impose himself too much over the songs. The songs sound like a rock version of Christmas songs and not like a Priest record.
This is a great addition to my Christmas rock collection and I have a feeling it’s gonna be my record of the month. Relax, thatz just in the Christmas Rock section.
