A new blog. . . .a new album by one of my fav bands – MEGADETH. Dave Mustaine has not been one to rest on laurels and release live or Best of albums. With TWNH and United Abominations Megadeth have stuff they do best – heavy riffs, brilliant solos, etc.
Endgame has pretty much continued on the United Abominations track, feels like a continuation of the previous record. With one more addition to the band, yet again, guitarist Chris Broderick (Jag Panzer) replaces Glen Drover. I listened to this album without reading a single review on the web, I must say it was a brilliant decision. If u r a Megdeth fan, you would definitely like this one. It is more on the lines of Youthanasia, and not a Rust in Peace material.
The first surprise of the album, it starts with an instrumental “Dialectic Chaos”, a brilliant piece that just feels like the action packed part of a Megadeth song. Mustaine voice is not disappointing, the post production work seems to have improved over the years on their records.
Some of the killer tracks on the record are “1,320” (a classic sounding Megadeth song about drag racing), “Bodies”, “Head Crusher” which was released sometime back as a teaser.
The worst song on the record is “The hardest part of letting go – sealed with a kiss”, yes you read it right. A ballad on a Megadeth album, you can excuse Megadeth as the riffs start pouring in after 90 secs. If you are an old school Megadeth fan, you will like this album.
If you are new to Megadeth you couldn’t have discovered them at a better time. Dave Mustaine as a song writer, musician has matured over the years and is quietly producing some brilliant records which matches the history of the band.
Please feel free to comment on the album if you listened to this.
This being my first post, I intend to cover more articles about new music and not to forget the great past in the metal world.
